5 July 2021

Dear Parents/ Carers,

As the end of the summer term draws closer, I wanted to give you an update on our
additional lessons for Year 10, known as P6 and the Year 10 summer assessments.

Since relaunching P6 after half term, we have delivered an additional 20 hours of learning,
equivalent to 4 extra school days. The attendance to P6 is 75%, which means 3 out of every
4 students are attending every session available. I hope you are as proud of them as we are.

By attending these sessions, students will feel confident that they are very well prepared for
their GCSE and vocational examinations next year. It is our intention that 100% of students
will benefit from these sessions and I encourage you to support us in ensuring that they do
not miss out when we start in September.

We will be pausing P6 for this year on Friday 9 July 2021 and will resume in the next
academic year as we prepare students for their Mock Examinations.

In the previous 2 weeks all students have taken their summer examinations and staff are in
the process of marking these assessments which will form part of the grade that will be
reported to you during the last week of term.

Staff at Birches Head Academy have been impressed with this year group’s maturity,
adaptability and resilience, given the continuing disruption that they are facing.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and sunny summer break.

Yours Sincerely

Ms P Phillips
