This week, students at the Academy are taking part in assemblies to highlight the dangers of button batteries.

Harper-Lee Fanthorpe, 2, from Stoke-on-Trent, died after swallowing a button battery from a remote control. The battery slid easily from its holder, and she was able to ingest it. Harper-Lee died from devastating internal injuries. Her death has devastated her family and community.

Mrs Conn-Pearson has challenged students to raise awareness and sign the petition in memory of Harper-Lee.
