Birches Head Academy proudly launched its World Book Day celebrations with an engaging creative writing workshop led by acclaimed author, Alex Foulkes.
Students were invited to explore the gothic genre through a series of interactive activities designed to develop their storytelling skills. Focusing on atmosphere, suspense, and characterisation, the workshop encouraged students to push their creative boundaries and experiment with new writing styles. The result was an impressive collection of original pieces that showcased both imagination and technical ability.
Staff at the Academy praised the enthusiasm and commitment demonstrated throughout the day, with many noting the significant progress students made in a short space of time.
The quality of the gothic writing exceeded expectations and reflected the students’ willingness to engage with the challenge.
Alex Foulkes also commended the students’ work, highlighting their originality and creativity.
In addition to delivering the workshop, she generously took time to speak with Key Stage 4 students about careers in the creative industries. Sharing insights from her own professional journey, she offered practical advice and inspiration to those considering futures in writing, publishing, and related fields.
This event marked the beginning of a week-long celebration of reading and creativity at Birches Head Academy.
