Birches Head Academy is delighted to share the progress made and positive outcomes across GCSE qualifications for its Year 11 pupils. Building on the positive results of last year and the positive Ofsted Inspection Report from the Summer Term, the achievements reflect the hard work and dedication of pupils and staff.
Marking a successful academic year, the Academy saw significant improvements across whole school headline measures and a wide range of subjects, with significant gains in English Language, Maths, and Science. There were also substantial improvements in Spanish, Art, Sport, Photography, 3D Design, Music, Performing Arts and Health and Social Care.
The school is particularly proud of the achievements of all its pupils, including those with SEND. This is reflected in the significant increase in Attainment 8 and in the number of pupils achieving a strong pass in English and Maths. These outcomes demonstrate the school’s commitment to providing an ambitious curriculum that inspires every pupil to ‘Be More’.
At BHA, we pride ourselves on developing our pupils’ intellectual, cultural and social capital and the vast majority of pupils have gained the qualifications they need as they prepare for the next stage in their education whether it is sixth form, college or entering an apprenticeship. Among the many success stories are pupils Ruby, Liwia and Finlay.
Speaking about their results, Ruby said, “I’m so happy with my results and I feel so proud! I’ve always felt supported by the teachers at BHA and I’m really looking forward to the next chapter at Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College, where I will be studying History, Politics, and Psychology.”
Liwia secured her place at college to study A Level Law, Psychology and English Literature after achieving an outstanding Grade 9 in English, placing her among the highest-performing pupils in the country. With aspirations of becoming a lawyer, Liwia has demonstrated exceptional dedication and academic excellence, providing a strong foundation for her future studies and career.
Finlay was “delighted with his strong GCSE results”, and his success has enabled him to take the next exciting step in his education by securing a place to study Musical Theatre at the prestigious Jill Clewes Academy of Performing Arts. Following an excellent result in Performing Arts, Finlay is now well placed to pursue his passion and develop his talents in a specialist training environment.
Principal, Mr. Masher expressed his immense pride when reflecting on the success at BHA. “I am incredibly proud of every single one of our Year 11 pupils and their resilience, commitment and positive contributions to BHA. It has been a very positive year and this year’s results are a testament to our pupils who have demonstrated a positive work ethic and, building on the support provided by our dedicated team of staff, a real ‘can do’ attitude. These superb grades are a well-deserved reward for their hard work and are a fantastic foundation for their next stepson education, apprenticeship or workplace; I look forward to hearing about their future successes and how they make a difference to their community and beyond. “
