During the last half term, Birches Head Academy proudly marked Cultural Week, offering pupils a variety of engaging opportunities to explore, celebrate, and learn about the diverse cultures represented within our school community.
Throughout the week, pupils explored traditional folktales from their cultural backgrounds, matched influential cultural figures to the academy’s core values, and participated in a much-anticipated inter-form World Cup competition. These activities encouraged pupils to develop a greater understanding of their own heritage while fostering appreciation and respect for the cultures of others.
The celebrations culminated in Cultural Day on Friday 22 May 2026, alongside a vibrant performance of the academy’s All the World’s a Stage showcase. The event brought together pupils, staff, and families in a meaningful celebration of identity, inclusion, and community.
Pupils demonstrated creativity and pride in the ways they chose to represent themselves and their cultures. One pupil wore blue to symbolise Britain and green to represent Pakistan, while members of the U15 Eastwood Hanley team proudly wore their football kit, reflecting an important aspect of their identity and involvement within the local community.
Cultural Week was a fantastic celebration of the rich diversity that makes Birches Head Academy such a unique and welcoming place. The event showcased the academy’s commitment to inclusion and highlighted how our differences strengthen and enrich the entire school community.
