 RE: Consultation on admission arrangements

I am writing to notify you of the consultation on the academy’s 2026 – 27 admissions policy. The consultation period will run from 18th December 2024 until 29th January 2025; during this time, parents and other key stakeholders are invited to express their views and any concerns about the admission arrangements at Birches Head Academy.

In accordance with the DfE’s 2021 statutory ‘School Admissions Code’ guidance, as a school we must consult on our admission arrangements when changes are proposed, and at least once every seven years. For this reason, a consultation is currently being held to meet the academy’s statutory duty; and it should be noted that changes to the year 7 group PAN have been made, from 200 to 180.

In accordance with statutory DfE guidance, the consultation will run for at least six weeks and, as an interested party at Birches Head Academy, we are keen to hear your views on the current admission arrangements; therefore, you are invited to participate in the consultation if you have any concerns regarding the matter.

All responses to the consultation should be made in writing and submitted before 5pm on 29th January 2025 to: info@bircheshead.org.uk, via the contact us link on the school website  https://bircheshead.org.uk/contact/  or in writing to Mr Masher, Birches Head Academy, Birches Head Road, Birches Head, Stoke on Trent, ST2 8DD.
