Birches Head Academy Brings Roald Dahl’s ‘Matilda Jr.’ to Life with School Production
Last week, pupils from Birches Head Academy (BHA) delivered an unforgettable performance of Matilda Jr The Musical on the 26th and 27th of March 2025, bringing Roald Dahl’s beloved tale to the stage.
Students from across the academy amazed audiences with their remarkable acting, singing, and dancing, showcasing months of hard work. Under the direction of the performing arts department, the production featured impressive choreography, captivating set designs and musical numbers that had the audience singing along.
The story of Matilda Jr, based on Dahl’s iconic novel, follows a young girl with extraordinary intelligence and determination as she overcomes adversity with courage and kindness. The production highlighted key themes of empowerment, resilience, and the importance of education – values that resonate deeply with the ethos of Birches Head Academy.
The school’s hall was filled with enthusiastic applause as families, friends, and members of the community came together to support the young performers. Many attendees expressed their admiration for the students’ talents and the dedication of the teachers and production team who made the show possible.
