Good afternoon parents / carers,

I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year and I look forward to welcoming all pupils back to school tomorrow after the Christmas break and having a positive start to the Spring Term.

The weather has proved challenging following snowfall in Birches Head and sub zero temperatures, but our Site Team are working tirelessly to ensure that the school and entrances are safe for all pupils and staff.

To ensure the Site Team can clear pathways and entrances for safe access, and allow time for all staff to arrive safely, we are moving the start time of the school day to 10:40am – all pupils are to enter via The Plaza Steps where they will be welcomed by SLT on duty.

Pupils will be directed from The Plaza straight to their Form Room where they will be welcomed by their Form Tutors who will share updated timetables in preparation for timetabled lessons starting Period 3 and complete a standards check on uniform and equipment, ensuring all pupils are meeting our high standards and expectations. All timings from Period 3 onwards will be as our normal school day.

A main area of concern are the roads around BHA, especially Birches Head Road, as the gritting has been limited in the area and the forecast is freezing again overnight – please do remind your child to be safe walking to school and if you are driving in the morning, please do take care.

I will be doing a final site check tomorrow morning and if there are any updates to the above information, I will message all parents / carers by 08:30am.

Thank you for your continued support and here’s to a fantastic 2026 at BHA and in our community!

Kind regards,

Mr Masher
