Student Leadership Team

Our Pupil Leadership Team play a vital role in the communication between pupils and staff, in representing our academy in the wider community and as acting as role models for our younger pupils.

Pupils apply for roles in the Leadership Team by writing a letter of application to the Principal. If successful, they are invited for interview to discuss their skills and competencies and to outline the role they would be interested in.

Each member of our Pupil Leadership Team meet weekly with the Assistant Principal for Personal Development to discuss progress towards upcoming events, planning for future events and evaluation of impact to- date.

Our Pupil Leadership positions are:

  • Principal Ambassadors (two positions)
  • BHA Council Ambassador
  • Fundraising Ambassador
  • Transition Ambassador
  • Be More Ambassador

Our Principal Ambassadors provide support to the Principal. This may include speaking at awards and events; giving tours to prospective pupils; supporting SLT and leading the team of Pupil Leaders.

The BHA Council Ambassador will, alongside the rest of the team, set the agenda for each BHA Council meeting. They will ensure that all form reps have had appropriate discussions about the agenda with their forms and will attend and minute the Year Team meetings. They will feed back to SLT following BHA Council meetings and will subsequently attend assemblies to inform pupils of the outcomes of their suggestions.

Our Transition Ambassador is responsible for supporting all pupils to thrive in the next key stage of their education. They support our Y6 Transition Days, Parental Information Evenings and other Primary-link events. They will also lead Subject Ambassadors to support and advise during GCSE options evening for our Year 9 pupils.

The Fundraising Ambassador is responsible for orchestrating our charitable events at BHA. They will decide on our chosen charity for the year and will run a series of activities and events aimed to raise funds and further develop a sense of belonging in the BHA community.

The ‘Be More’ Ambassador is responsible for upholding our belief that pupils should ‘Aspire to be More’. They will ensure that this belief is fully embedded across both curriculum and pastoral areas and will support with the promotion and celebration of FFET Awards, trips and rewards. They and will leave a legacy behind them when they leave BHA.

BHA Council

Our BHA Council plays a vital role in the continued development of our Academy. Each form group has a designated representative. This person, along with their form tutor, is responsible for ensuring that their form discuss the BHA Council agenda. They will be expected to make notes on the discussions that have taken place and to share these in their respective year team meetings.

Year Team Representatives will gather feedback from Year Team meetings and make notes on the key themes, ideas and discussions. These will be presented at the whole-Academy meeting, where the BHA Council Ambassador will take minutes.
